Entry to South Korea

Any foreign visitors wishing to enter the Republic of Korea must have a valid passport and obtain a Korean visa before coming. But people of 103 countries who want to visit Korea temporarily are permitted to enter without a visa according to visa-exemption agreements, or in accordance with principles reciprocity or national interest.

K-ETA for participants from visa waiver and visa-free countries

  • K-ETA is an online electronic travel authorization that visa-free foreign visitors need to obtain prior to arrival to Republic of Korea. From May 1, 2022, K-ETA application is open to nationals from 102 countries. Please apply for K-ETA at least 72 hours before departure.

  • After completing registration, in-person participants may request a letter of invitation at My Page. Please direct any questions regarding entry to Korea and quarantine requirements to your nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate, as the terms and conditions may vary.
